Interview: Scott Ferguson, creator of Scout Crossing and Fabler Contest Winner

For those of you who haven’t been paying attention, The Fabler just recently concluded our first major contest over in this here corner of the interwebs. The winners were announced on Monday, chosen from finalists voted in by YOU. We figured, hey, if you liked their work enough to vote them into the finals, maybe you would like to know a little more about the talented individuals behind the comics.

The Grand Prize winner of this particular contest was Kutztown, Pennsylvania resident and illustrator Scott Ferguson, for his comic Scout Crossing.

Artist Interview: Noel Tuazon of The Broadcast

Noel Tuazon has been involved in comics in one form or another for over twenty years. His latest illustrative effort, titled The Broadcast, was written by Eric Hobbs and published through NBM.
The Broadcast, which released in August and began shipping early September, is a noir thriller set against the backdrop of Orson Welles’ famous War of the Worlds broadcast.
I talked to Tuazon, who is himself a long-time resident to Toronto, about his contribution to the book, his early comic book influences, and even the particularities of his day job (as a storyboard cleanup artist).

Interview: Michael Jasper and Niki Smith on In Maps & Legends

Today, September 1st, marks the relaunch of Niki Smith and Mike Jasper’s Zuda comic In Maps & Legends as a digital, issue-based series.

Their comic, which has been described as a contemporary fantasy story with steam punk and sci-fi elements, won the November 2009 Zuda competition. When Zuda shut down, they were faced with the difficult choice of how to proceed with their comic. The Fabler chatted with them about their decision, their thoughts on Zuda’s demise, and about where the comic is headed.
